I believe that English language through its history is really strange. I read a book about old English, Middle English and Modern one.

Do you believe that the word ( nice) meant in Shakespeare’s time ( ignorant) while now it means ( pleasant) ?!
Do you find any sense in that amelioration!
I’ve selected a list of words that you will really find them strange when you see the differences:
The word (Knight) meant in Old English (servant boy) while now it means (Romantic person)!
The word (Silly ) meant in Old English ( Happy) but now it’s ( foolish or simple).
The word ( Vulgar) meant ( the common people) while now it’s ( bad manner, rude)

There is another thing that I’ve realized while reading, which is they used to reduce some English words while now we use these words in a different way, like:
The word (Deer) , in old English this word was used for all kind of animals like Shakespeare said “ Mice and rat and such small deer”
While now we use this word for a specific kind of animals

Another fact that makes me really believe that English is somehow strange is that some proper names were added to the dictionary just because people used to say it a lot:
Like:
Kleenex: which is a name of Tissue Company, now if you open the dictionary you will find it there!
Coca cola: we all know that it's the name of the most famous coke company. It’s also in the dictionary as any other word!

I’d like to write more strange and wonderful facts but since you don’t like to read long topics I’ll stop now, but I promise that I’ll post a similar topic very soon.
